Man Utd Head Coach Ruben Amorim States He Can't Run From Disappointing Results

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim admits he cannot hide from his poor performance and believes it is expected that Old Trafford icons are questioning him.

Earlier this week, the club's all-time scorer Wayne Rooney stated on his program that "the spirit has vanished" from his former club.

The Portuguese manager has managed just 18 wins from his forty-nine games in control, including 9 out of thirty-three in the Premier League, where he has still to secure two consecutive wins.

While high-level Old Trafford insiders are certain that Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains behind the manager, an inability to defeat newly promoted Sunderland on the weekend will ignite new speculation about his future heading into another two-week pause in domestic football.

"This is normal," stated the Portuguese manager, when asked about the former striker's comments. "One cannot escape from the performance."

"Additionally you have the history from the previous campaign, [although] that period for me doesn't matter."

Supporter Reaction and Current Circumstances

United's fans remained behind Amorim following the previous campaign's dismal fare, when they finished 15th in the table - their poorest finish since the 1973-74 relegation campaign - and were defeated in the Europa League showpiece, in the belief that the current campaign would be considerably better.

The manager told supporters the position would get better because he had additional time to work with his team without the midweek commitment of continental football.

That is not been how the initial six fixtures have developed as United have suffered 3 defeats already and sit 14th in the table.

When asked what guarantees he could provide fans that the situation will change, Amorim added: "This is not the time to talk, it is the moment to show."
